Botox Alternatives - Top Five

Botox alternatives have sprung onto the market recently and quickly became hot products in the anti aging market.

They have a broad appeal - selling both to needle-phobes like myself who want what botox offers but without the needle AND to botox junkies eager to prolong the effects of their latest fix.  Whichever category you fall into you may find it quite difficult sorting your way through the literally hundreds of products all claiming to offer a true alternative to botox.

After much trawling here's my view of the five best on the market at the moment:

1.    Dr Brandt Crease Release - great name and by all accounts a pretty fantastic product! Seen on the Today show, beloved of many top name celebs and earning rave reviews in forum posts and beauty sites this new product has caused quite a stir.  The key line-relaxing ingredient is GABA or Gamma Amino Butyric Acid.  Without going into the science bit too much - GABA inhibits nerve impulses enabling the body (and the mind when taken orally) to relax.  The manufacturers make impressive claims for it's wrinkle-relaxing ability.  Customer reviews in forums all over the internet back up these claims. The cream is quite expensive but the standard pot should last 2-3 months.  If it's as good as everyone says it's got to be worth it.

2.    Prevage - botox alternative produced by Elizabeth Arden in conjunction with Allergan the makers of the original botox serum.  Highly effective serum with Idebenone as the key active ingredient.  Idebenone is one of the most powerful antioxidants known to reverse the effects of free radical damage on the skin.  Impressive clinical tests with 80% reporting significant reduction in skin pigmentation from sun damage.  Good reviews from forum posts and customer testamonials.

3.    DDF Wrinkle Relax - another great name and excellent product from a trustworthy brand.  Based on peptide technology, this cream should be used initially twice daily then after 60 days reduce to once a day to maintain effects.  Works by reducing the intensity of the tiny muscle contractions in the face.  Makers claim results visible in two weeks with wrinkles and fine lines reduced by 50% by the end of the 60 day period.  Also useful in conjuction with standard botox injections to prolong its effects.  Excellent reviews  with some negative comments which may be due to the users overly high expectations of the product.

4.    Strivectin SD - Who hasn't heard of this one?  Originally sold as an anti stretch mark cream, users - rather than the makers - discovered just how good the cream was at reducing facial wrinkles and uneven skin tone.  Now Klein Becker, the makers of Strivectin have reinvented the cream as "the botox alternative".  It's included in this list because it is something of an anti aging classic and it consistently receives high ratings and positive reviews in the forums.  Definitely a good anti wrinkle product but whether it really is a botox alternative is doubtful.

5.     TYK Revelation - This is a very good botox alternative at a great price.  TYK Revealation is a powerful serum containing the latest bioactive ingredients to combat aging including: highly active peptides, Vitamin C, Vitamin A (retinol) and powerful natural skin lightening agents.  Uses nanotechnology to deliver the ingredients deep into the skin's cells.  Excellent customer reviews.

In terms of making a final choice - if you're feeling flush and want the best I would go for the Dr Brandt Crease Release.  If you don't want to spend as much but still want a botox alternative that will deliver then the TYK Revelation is a great product.
