First impressions of Restore and Renew
I finally got my hands on some of the hottest anti aging serums around - Boots No. 7 Restore & Renew
I gave up begging at my local Boots store and finally placed an order on the internet via the Boots UK website. My little parcel arrived last week and I've been using it ever since.
It's too early to say whether it's made any impression on my wrinkles but it certainly feels beautiful. The product has a lovely consistency and a satiny silky feel on my skin. It sinks in effortlessly without leaving any greasy residue.
I read a couple of reviews in the British press recently which were critical - so I wasn't expecting a great deal - especially after so much hype. One of the reviewers described the serum as feeling greasy and heavy and sitting on top of her skin.
Well - I'm not sure what serum she was using but I can't believe it was this one.
My experience to date is that Boots No. 7 Restore and Renew is a lovely base for anything you put on top - moisturizer, make-up or sunscreen as I did at the weekend. Actually you should make sure you wear a moisturizer with a sunscreen on top as the product is based on a retinol complex which leaves your skin more sensitive to sun damage.
I can only think the reviews I read were down to poor application - too much product or applying the serum on top of insufficiently cleansed skin. Of course it could be something to do with the fact that the reviewer in question was only 28 years old. A little early in my book to use a serious anti aging product.
Anyway - so far I'm a happy bunny.
My skin certainly looks good and has a glow to it - especially if I apply the serum after exfoliation. I bought some Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator at the same time as the Restore and Renew and the two together give my complexion a real radiance. In fact the Boots product is as good as the the Roc Microdermabrasion product I was previously using - at about half the price.
I'll let you know what my views are on wrinkle reduction when I've been using the product longer - four weeks is the recommended time for visible results. In the meantime - I'd say it definitely has the makings of a good anti aging buy!

Just a comment. I've been using Protect and Perfect ( the UK version) for a few months and its very good. However like you I thought I might try some further No 7 products to complement this and looked at Total Renew exfoliator as something to prime my skin, however on further reading of the literature that comes inside the packets Boots advise not to use these two type of products together as its a bit too much for the skin. I think its because the chemicals used in protect and perfect cause some exfoliation in themselves and therefore extra exfoliation leaves the skin open to damaging sunrays etc.

Hi Clare,
That's helpful to know - I hadn't seen this information in the Boots literature. Actually I have been using both products - Protect & Perfect daily and the Total Renewal exfoliator every 2-3 days without problems. In fact with great results so far! I do also use daily sunscreen which gives me added protection. Some skins may be more sensitive and manufacturers usually take a low-risk strategy on warnings in my experience. Thanks for the information.

I love this product..I am 59 years old and have been using the Restore and Renew product for the last 6 weeks. I can really see the difference in my skin. My skin tone is brighter and the fine lines are truly disappearing. My foundation glides on after using the R&R and day moisturizer. In addition to the Restore and Renew I also use the Advanced Hydration Day cream and the Time Resisting Night Cream. The combination of these three products is ideal for my skin.
I have had Botox injections and line fillers in the past. I can see myself continuing with the Botox but I think the days of painful line fillers being injected are past.
My skin feels and looks years younger…This product does exactly what it says it does.
Finally the Fountain of Youth in a jar.

Diann - Thanks for the tips on what suits you best from the Boots No7 line. I'm using Protect and Perfect with No7 Age Rewind day and night creams - at the moment only available in the UK I think. I agree it is refreshing to find products that actually work!

Hello, I have heard so much about the No 7 Restore and Renew, please could you send me a sample of your;e diffrent ranges, or can I go in to a Boots dept, and ask for samples. Thank you Carol Hawker. (age 55)

Carol - I notice you're from the UK so getting hold of Restore and Renew is now easy as supplies are freely available at most Boots Stores. My local High St branch is fully stocked anyway. I'm not sure whether they offer samples but there are a lot of free gift offers if you buy two or more No7 products. Good luck!
